Softball Recap: Ursuline Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Metairie Park Country Day last Wednesday, Ursuline Academy came back down to earth. The Ursuline Academy Lions fell 13-8 to the Newman Greenies on Monday. The Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Greenies from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Taylor Bellaci made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Dixie Tatum was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Even though they lost, Ursuline Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Ursuline Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Newman, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ursuline Academy will head out to take on Landry on Tuesday. As for Newman, they will take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
