Yorktown is 8-2 against Herndon since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Yorktown Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Herndon Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Yorktown sitting on seven straight wins and Herndon on six.

Last Saturday, Yorktown strolled past Middletown with points to spare, taking the game 61-43. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Virginia, while the Knights are ranked 154th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

While Herndon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They escaped with a win on Saturday against Dominion by the margin of a single free throw, 53-52.

Herndon's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Yorktown, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Yorktown strolled past Herndon in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 56-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yorktown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
