Preview: Strong Rock Christian Patriots vs. Westfield School Hornets
Strong Rock Christian has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Westfield School Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Strong Rock Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
Strong Rock Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They claimed a resounding 69-36 victory over St. Mary's Academy at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Strong Rock Christian has posted since November 16, 2023.
Zack Phillips was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five assists and two steals. Phillips is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Upton, who scored 14 points.
Deerfield-Windsor typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Westfield School proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 38-31 win over the Knights. The victory was all the more spectacular given Westfield School's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 496th, while Deerfield-Windsor is ranked 180th).
Strong Rock Christian's record now sits at 15-2. As for Westfield School, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12.
Strong Rock Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Westfield School when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 60-57. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Westfield School's Brody Mcdaniel, who scored 29 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Strong Rock Christian to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
