Basketball Recap: Dawson Novotny Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Heartland Christian

There's no place like home for Cedar Bluffs, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 50-37 win over Heartland Christian on Thursday. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 64-53 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cedar Bluffs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dawson Novotny, who posted 13 points. The dominant performance also gave Novotny a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Carter Eiring, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Cedar Bluffs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Cedar Bluffs' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-11. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Heartland Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Cedar Bluffs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-37 defeat against College View Academy on the 27th. As for Heartland Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cornerstone Christian School on February 3rd.
