Baseball Recap: Coventry Comes Up Short

The matchup between Coventry and Woodridge on Monday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Comets came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 18-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Comets in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

Coventry saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Basinger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Coventry's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Woodridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

While Coventry had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
