Basketball Recap: Spencer Wynsma Key Part of Team Effort in Hawks Win

It was a Battle of the Birds when Hebron took on North Judson-San Pierre on Saturday. The Hebron Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 win over the North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered a 59-50 loss the last time these two teams met.

Hebron got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Spencer Wynsma out in front who went 6-for-13 on his way to 18 points along with five boards and three steals. The game was Wynsma's tenth in a row with at least 16 points. Aidan Bowgren was another key player, going 6-for-11 en route to 13 points and five assists.

Hebron is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points over those games. North Judson-San Pierre's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hebron will take on Portage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Judson-San Pierre, they will face off against Kankakee Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
