Baseball Recap: Hackett Hornets vs. Cedarville Pirates

In what's become a running theme this season, Hackett gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cedarville Pirates a 14-0 shutout. The victory was just what Hackett needed coming off of a 10-2 defeat in their prior matchup.

Wyatt Hester made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hester was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Steven Thornburg was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Lasko, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Hackett's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Cedarville, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hackett will face off against Paris at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Paris will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Hackett surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cedarville, they are on the road again on Friday to play Charleston at 4:30 p.m.
