Pittsville got a massive performance out of Lana Vollert, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave Vollert a new career-high. Ally Klaske also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Pittsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .468. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-County only posted a batting average of .333.
Meanwhile, Necedah hadn't done well against Hillsboro recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 21-12 margin over the Tigers. The match marked the Cardinals' most dominant win of the season.
Addisyn Schumer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off 13 hits. Schumer was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Kiesling, who went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Hunkins, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Necedah and bumps their season record up to 6-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Pittsville, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.
Pittsville took their win against Necedah in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
