Baseball Game Preview: Southern Trojans vs. Collins Titans

Southern hasn't had much luck against Collins recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Southern will face off against Collins at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Southern took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Christian Educational Consortium by a score of 4-1.

Alex Coba spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lariel Torres, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Liant Perez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Collins waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Cardinals as they made off with a 10-3 victory.

Collins pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Southern, their record now sits at 3-5.

Southern suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Collins in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can Southern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
