Recap: Layton Lancers vs. Herriman Mustangs

The Layton Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 55-40 fall against Herriman. Layton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Herriman apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2014.

When it comes to explaining why Layton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Oakley Homer. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Homer's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Avery Potter was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.

Layton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Layton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Herriman, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Layton will take on Syracuse at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Syracuse will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Herriman is on the road again on Thursday and play against Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Mountain Ridge is ranked 21st, while Herriman is ranked 38th).
