Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Stillwater

With a playoff win on the line, Stillwater rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Irondale/Mounds View Knights. Considering the Ponies have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Weisser made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lyla Polehna was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Zrust, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

The win (which was Stillwater's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Irondale/Mounds View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

As of now, neither Stillwater nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
