Soccer Recap: Newberry Comes Up Short

Newberry fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Fox Creek on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Predators who were credited with the win. The Fox Creek Predators got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Newberry Bulldogs' two. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Fox Creek this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-3 defeat on Monday.

Frida Aguilar and Juliette Carmona scored both of Newberry's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 36 goals.

Newberry's loss ended a seven-match streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4. As for Fox Creek, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Coming up, Newberry will host North Charleston at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Fox Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
