Basketball Recap: Harding Academy Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Harding Academy challenged Arlington on Tuesday. The Harding Academy Lions were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Arlington Tigers. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Harding Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brynne Miller went 8 for 10 on her way to 16 points and eight steals. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Rose Austin, who posted 12 points.

Arlington found their leader in freshman Kallie Marsh, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Marsh is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Zaria Moss was another key player, as she made all 9 shots she took from beyond the arc to post 7 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Harding Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Arlington, they moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Harding Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-40 victory against Memphis Central on the 20th. As for Arlington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 63-52 defeat against Houston on the 19th.
