Baseball Game Preview: Cedarcrest Red Wolves vs. Renton Red Hawks

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the Renton Red Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Cedarcrest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Cedarcrest needed a bit of extra time to put away Evergreen. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Wolverines.

The team relied heavily on Murphy Vliem, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Braden Bottemiller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Cedarcrest hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evergreen struck out 12 times.

Meanwhile, Renton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Interlake, falling 19-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Red Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Cedarcrest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Renton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Cedarcrest took their victory against Renton when the teams last played on April 9th by a conclusive 17-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
