Basketball Preview: Withrow Tigers vs. Taft Senators
Withrow has been on the road for five straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Taft Senators at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Withrow has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Withrow can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. They blew past Aiken 67-46. Withrow pushed the score to 57-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons cut but never quite recovered from.
Withrow got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyriana Berry out in front who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 20 rebounds. Berry is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Yaniah Arnold was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight steals and six assists.
Meanwhile, Taft's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their ninth straight loss. The game between them and Hughes wasn't particularly close, with Taft falling 51-32. Taft has struggled against the BIG RED recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Withrow's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.7 points. As for Taft, their loss dropped their record down to 1-19.
Everything came up roses for Withrow against the Senators in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-22 win. Does Withrow have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Senators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
