Basketball Recap: Lamar Consolidated Mustangs vs. Randle Lions

The Lamar Consolidated Mustangs won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were dealt a 73-29 loss at the hands of Randle. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lamar Consolidated in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.

Lamar Consolidated lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Krislyn Zamora, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Lamar Consolidated smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. This was only their 18th loss (out of 24 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

It was another big night for Alaysia Cook, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds for Randle. Cook is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ifemena Nwora was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Lamar Consolidated has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-24 record this season. As for Randle, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-8.

Lamar Consolidated will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Willowridge will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Randle will take on the Buffalos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Marshall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 827th, while the Lions are ranked 326th).
