Preview: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Kiski Area Cavaliers
The Armstrong River Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Kiski Area Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Armstrong had to settle for a 17-15 loss against Highlands. Armstrong has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Armstrong's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyan Kline, who rushed for 96 yards, and Ian Olsen who picked up 122 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Kiski Area fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They claimed a resounding 39-8 win over Fox Chapel on the road.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kiski Area to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carson Heinle, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Landon Kucic, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
With Armstrong's defeat and Highlands' victory, both teams now sport identical 5-4 records.
Armstrong strolled past Kiski Area in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 40-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Armstrong since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
