Basketball Recap: Dynamic duo of Danny Yonas and Buck Sorrells lead George Washington to victory

Basketball Recap: George Washington Patriots vs. Westminster Wolves

The George Washington Patriots waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Westminster 67-42. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-13.

Leading George Washington to victory were Danny Yonas and Buck Sorrells. Yonas scored 14 points, while Sorrells scored 14 points along with two blocks. Yonas continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jarius Dicks was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Despite the loss, Westminster still got an impressive performance from Daigan Gray, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dennis Ross, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.

George Washington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Westminster, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

George Washington won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Wolverines at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Chaparral is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.2 points per game this season. As for Westminster, they will head out on the road to square off against the Commanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Kennedy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
