Baseball Recap: Eureka Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ferndale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eureka). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Ferndale Wildcats a 22-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Loggers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Kyle Giacone looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Eureka got a massive performance out of Robert Williams, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The Loggers are undefeated when Williams posts two or more runs, but 6-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Eureka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Eureka is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ferndale, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-4 record.

As of now, neither Eureka nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
