League recap: Edgeley/Kulm propelled into state Top 25 after victory

9-Man Region 1 (9 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012

Edgeley/Kulm was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Edgeley/Kulm 42-14. The Rebels came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.

LaMoure/Litchville-Marion extended the longest winning streak in 9-Man Region 1 (9 Man) this week by beating Wyndmere/Lidgerwood, 26-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Loboes.

Richland's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matthew Workin threw for 12 yards and Travis Myers had 12 yards receiving. On the ground Kayne Griffith chipped in 438 yards.

Richland's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Colts feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Workin has thrown for 166 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Griffith has eight catches for 162 yards. Griffith leads the league in rushing with 2024 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Edgeley/Kulm and South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley]. Todd Kosel's team comes into the matchup ranked 25th in the state, while the Badgers ranks fourth.

Two of the top units in 9-Man Region 1 (9 Man) will face off this week when the Colts take on Ellendale. Richland's offense has racked up 228 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Cardinals have allowed only 371 on the year.

South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] took down Ellendale 60-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
