Basketball Recap: Katy Taylor Comes Up Short

Katy Taylor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jordan Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 617th, while the Warriors are ranked 11th).

Jordan had a senior duo take command as Elijah Black went 8 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to five boards and four steals and Jaden Holt posted 19 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That's the most steals Black has posted since back in November of 2024. Rayan Fadika was another key player, putting up seven points and eight boards.

Katy Taylor's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Jordan, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 22 games, which provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Paetow the next time they take the court. Katy Taylor will head out to face Paetow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Jordan will host them at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
