Football Game Preview: Trenton Tigers vs. Lafayette Hornets

The Trenton Tigers will face off against the Lafayette Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Trenton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 42 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Branford on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 30-13 to the Buccaneers. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Buccaneers: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Trenton got top-tier performance from Alexzander Henry, who rushed for 163 yards and two scores on only 14 carries. Henry really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run.

Meanwhile, Lafayette had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they went ahead and made it three last Friday. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 27-20.

Trenton better keep an eye on Tywan K Williamson. He was instrumental in Lafayette's win, rushing for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 117 yards and two TDs.

Trenton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Lafayette, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Trenton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 225.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 188.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
