Volleyball Recap: Andover Takes a Loss

After flying high against Blaine last Wednesday, Andover came back down to earth. The Huskies came up short against the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights on Monday, falling 3-0. The Huskies were not able to make up for their loss to the Red Knights from their previous meeting back in September of 2023.

While Andover ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23, 25-20.

Danica Lenz paced Andover's offense, picking up nine kills. Lenz got some help from Taegan Groess and her 14 assists. Jada Johnson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Andover has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Benilde-St. Margaret's, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.

Andover and Benilde-St. Margaret's should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Huskies (ranked 95th) will meet Coon Rapids (ranked 286th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Benilde-St. Margaret's will face off against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (6 vs. 162).
