The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Ray was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 25-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ingleside. The Texans gained 94 more yards on the day, but it was the Mustangs that made the best use of them.
Ray might have lost, but man, Anthony Salinas was a machine: he rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. The dominant performance gave Salinas a new career-high in rushing yards. Tripp Thompson was another key player, throwing for 215 yards on 15 of 26 attempts.
Gregory-Portland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Ray, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
