Basketball Game Preview: Carver Tigers vs. Sumter County Panthers

Two dominant guards in Kayden Cooper and Jesstynie Scott are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Carver Tigers take on the Sumter County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Carver will be strutting in after a win while Sumter County will be coming in after a loss.

Carver is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Jordan 77-17. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Red Jackets are ranked 484th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sumter County unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Hardaway, falling 64-41. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Carver pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Sumter County, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7.

Carver suffered a grim 76-55 defeat to Sumter County in their previous meeting back in January. Can Carver avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
