Basketball Game Preview: Lockport Porters vs. Shepard Astros

The Lockport Porters are taking a road trip to face off against the Shepard Astros at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lockport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Shepard likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Lockport against Lincoln-Way West as the team secured a 70-40 win.

Meanwhile, Shepard posted their biggest victory since February 12, 2024 on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 69-32 win over College Prep of America. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Astros.

Shepard is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Lockport, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.

Lockport beat Shepard 43-33 in their previous matchup back in March of 2015. Does Lockport have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shepard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
