Softball Recap: Hixson Makes It Five in a Row at Home

While Hixson's win against Ooltewah wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Owls 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

The team relied heavily on Sara Martin, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Brantley Bruggink was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Hixson pushed their record up to 8-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Ooltewah, they moved to 14-4 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Coming up, Hixson will head out to square off against Chattanooga Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pounders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ooltewah, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
