Baseball Recap: Manteno Sets Scoring Season-High Against King

With a playoff win on the line, Manteno rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the King Jaguars a 23-0 shutout. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Connor Harrod and Jake Wendling made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Harrod struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wendling pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At the plate, Harrod went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Wendling went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Maddoz Toepper was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Buehler, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Manteno always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King only posted an OBP of .294.

Manteno has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for King, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-9.

As of now, neither Manteno nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
