Basketball Game Preview: Turner Lions vs. Western Hills Cougars

Turner is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Western Hills a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Turner Lions will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Western Hills Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Western Hills took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Turner, who comes in off a win.

Turner is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against North Side. The Lions secured a 55-51 W over the Steers on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Steers: they've now won four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Turner to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Stone, who posted 17 points. Arnav Lohiya was another key player, shooting 60% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Western Hills suffered their closest defeat since November 22, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of South Hills by a score of 42-39. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Scorpions 13-7 in the first quarter.

Turner beat Western Hills 48-40 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
