Basketball Game Preview: Owen Valley Patriots vs. Covenant Christian Warriors

The Owen Valley Patriots will challenge the Covenant Christian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Owen Valley's tournament run continued when they took on North Vermillion on Saturday. Owen Valley had to suffer through a 67-34 loss at the hands of North Vermillion. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Falcons are ranked 153rd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Rhet Heckman, who posted five points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Durnil, who earned six points.

Meanwhile, Covenant Christian entered their tilt with Whitko on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 63-52 win over the Wildcats. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Covenant Christian's win came from a few key players Owen Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryce Harris, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 18 points and three steals. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Crane, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.

Owen Valley's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Covenant Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
