Softball Recap: Lincoln Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Lincoln waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Galileo Lions. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Ventura Van-Zandt made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anjali Evans, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Jala Chi was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Galileo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lincoln is set to face off against their familiar foe Burton at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Galileo will take on rival Washington at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
