The Myers Park Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Myers Park has three straight victories, West Mecklenburg has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Myers Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 63-8 win over Hopewell. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Titans are ranked 163rd) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ramir Watson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 150 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 73 yards and a pair of scores. Josh Falzarano Jr was another key player, rushing for 120 yards and one TD on only five carries.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Chaz Portis, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Myers Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Justin Westbrook, Tylik Laney, and Ethan Johnson picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg lost 45-20 to South Mecklenburg last Friday.

Although West Mecklenburg took the loss, they still got scores from Tyson Stancil, Shawn Blackshear, and Kamren Moore.

Myers Park's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for West Mecklenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
