Softball Recap: Gwynedd Mercy Academy Takes a Loss

Gwynedd Mercy Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic. If the Monarchs were looking for revenge after losing 12-8 to the Magic when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Natalie Kelley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Riley Franklin, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mt. St. Joseph Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Gwynedd Mercy Academy will face off against Hatboro-Horsham at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. St. Joseph Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Archbishop Ryan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mt. St. Joseph Academy is facing Archbishop Ryan at the right time seeing as Archbishop Ryan is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
