Basketball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Miners vs. Del Sol Dragons
Sunrise Mountain suffered their biggest loss since December 28, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 75-47 defeat at the hands of the Del Sol Dragons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-47 back in December of 2024.
Ricana Taylor was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 23 points, 17 boards, and ten assists for Del Sol. Taylor is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ge Ge Pickens, who posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Sunrise Mountain and nudges their season record down to 8-13. As for Del Sol, they pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will take on Basic at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Basic will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Sunrise Mountain surely won't give up without a fight. As for Del Sol, they will face off against Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Del Sol is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64 points per game this season.
