Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Central Seminoles vs. Shenandoah Zeps

Monroe Central is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will venture away from home to take on the Shenandoah Zeps at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monroe Central has three straight wins, Shenandoah has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Monroe Central got the win against Magnolia by a conclusive 14-6.

Monroe Central got a massive performance out of Ryder Muntz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Muntz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Landefeld, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, Shenandoah didn't have quite enough to beat Buckeye Trail on Saturday and fell 6-4.

Brody Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakoda Rich, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Monroe Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Shenandoah, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Shenandoah's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monroe Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. It's a different story for Shenandoah, though, as they've only averaged .297. Will they be able to contain Monroe Central's hitters?

Monroe Central took their win against Shenandoah in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-2 score. Will the Seminoles repeat their success, or do the Zeps have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
