Basketball Recap: Summerville Takes a Loss

Summerville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Calaveras Red Hawks, falling 72-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bears have suffered since November 26, 2024.

Calaveras' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Fuller led the charge by going 6 for 8 on his way to 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Fuller a new career-high in assists (four). Ryan Clifton was another key player, putting up 19 points and six assists.

Summerville's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Calaveras, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summerville has already played their next game (against Linden), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Calaveras will face off against Big Valley Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Calaveras has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
