Basketball Recap: Green Run Takes a Loss

Green Run's tournament run continued when they took on NC GBB Academy National on Saturday. The Green Run Stallions were beaten by the NC GBB Academy National Eagles 67-33. The Stallions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

NC GBB Academy National's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amayah Barnes led the charge by going 6 for 11 on her way to 15 points and five steals. That's the most points Barnes has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Pierre-Louis, who posted eight points in addition to 13 boards and three steals.

Green Run's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for NC GBB Academy National, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Run will square off against Landstown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for NC GBB Academy National, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Winston Salem Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
