Tristin Raglin and Lane Powell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Raglin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Powell struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Raglin has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Raglin got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Powell went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Powell a new career-high.
In other batting news, Luca Snell and Jack Ampi did most of the damage at the plate: Snell went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI, while Ampi went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Ampi has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Wrathall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
University Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only posted an OBP of .333.
Eureka hit Red Bluff with a five-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell just short of the Loggers by a score of 8-7. The Spartans have struggled against the Loggers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Red Bluff saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Sides, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
University Prep's record now sits at 17-8-1. As for Red Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. University Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Red Bluff struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
University Prep skirted past Red Bluff 4-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
