Baseball Recap: Smith Vo-Tech Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

On Tuesday Smith Vo-Tech's undefeated season almost came to an end. They never let the St. Mary Saints get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Vikings have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Smith Vo-Tech's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Kukuska, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Smith Vo-Tech pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Mary, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Smith Vo-Tech will be playing in front of their home fans against Sabis International at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Mary, they will head out on the road to square off against Westfield Technical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
