Football Game Preview: Lafayette Commodores vs. Cleveland Central Wolves + Official Tickets

Two dominant backs in Kamaron Pritchard and Anthony Stephens Jr are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lafayette Commodores are taking a road trip to challenge the Cleveland Central Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette has given up an average of 28 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lafayette is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Pontotoc on Thursday. The Commodores lost 41-21 to the Warriors. While the Commodores didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 14-7 in the first quarter.

Although Lafayette took the loss, they still got scores from Pritchard, McLain Corban, and Justice Vaughn.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cleveland Central). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Provine 49-8. Considering the Wolves have won three matchups by more than 23 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lafayette better keep an eye on Kyle Mitchell. He was instrumental in Cleveland Central's win, rushing for 93 yards and one TD.incredibly, Mitchell got all that yardage with just one huge run

Cleveland Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.2 points over those games. As for Lafayette, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-5.

Everything went Lafayette's way against Cleveland Central when the teams last played back in October of 2022, as Lafayette made off with a 35-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Commodores since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
