Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Columbia Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbia Academy). They blew past the Providence Christian Academy LIONS 11-1 on Monday. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly ten runs.

Anna Brewer made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmalyn Cothran, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Lila Pulley was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Columbia Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Columbia Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Providence Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Coming up, Columbia Academy will venture away from home to take on Franklin Road Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Providence Christian Academy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Providence Christian Academy LIONS challenge Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
