Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Ocosta's Third in Last Four Outings

It's playoff time, and Ocosta had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 15-10 victory over the Darrington Loggers on Saturday.

Jessie Gilbert and Joanah Rosander made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gilbert kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Rosander pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gilbert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gilbert got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Rosander went 4-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Rosander a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolissa Schlegel, who went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gabby Ness was another key player, going 2-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Ocosta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ocosta is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Darrington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-7.

As of now, neither Ocosta nor the Loggers have any future games scheduled.
