Basketball Recap: Chatham Central Bears vs. The Burlington School Spartans

After flying high against Central Carolina Academy two weeks ago, Chatham Central came back down to earth. The Bears lost 65-43 to The Burlington School Spartans on Tuesday. The Bears were down 49-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Chatham Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Addison Goldston dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Goldston is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lizzy Murray was another key player, putting up two points and six steals.

Kamryn Russell had another great game (as she tends to do), dropping a double-double with 26 points and 11 steals for The Burlington School. Those 11 steals gave Russell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Harrelson, who posted 18 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Chatham Central fell to 2-1. As for The Burlington School, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Chatham Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-44 win against Eastern Randolph on the 4th. As for The Burlington School, they will square off against Trinity Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
