Recap: Carver Tigers vs. Columbus Blue Devils

The Carver Tigers can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 80-28 blowout they got on the road against Columbus. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-16.

Aubri Wilkins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Nicole Baldwin, who scored 15 points along with two steals.

Columbus lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sanaa Hicks, who scored five points along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Hicks hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Foster, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Carver's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-4. As for Columbus, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Carver won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Palm Bay at 6:15 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Palm Bay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Saturday. As for Columbus, they will head out on the road to square off against Dougherty at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Dougherty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday.
