Football Game Preview: Southern Lee Cavaliers vs. Union Pines Vikings + Official Tickets

The Southern Lee Cavaliers will challenge the Union Pines Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Monday, Southern Lee came up short against Triton and fell 28-17. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Union Pines entered their tilt with Harnett Central on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Trojans 28-12.

Union Pines' win came from a few key players Southern Lee will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Adrian Colon, who rushed for 179 yards while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Those 179 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. John Erguiza was another key player, picking up 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Union Pines' defense made their presence known, laying out Koby Howard seven times. Dylan Benedict led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 7 total tackles per game. Josiah Sandler was another major factor on D, forcing two fumbles, making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Union Pines' victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Southern Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Southern Lee skirted past Union Pines 26-23 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
