Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Takes a Loss

Mt. Vernon/Plankinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Burke Cougars. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Kyrie Matucha, who had 12 digs and two aces.

Mt. Vernon/Plankinton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Burke, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 20 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.

Mt. Vernon/Plankinton will venture away from home to take on Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Burke, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Tournament Opponent on the 25th.
