In other pitching news, Camden Williams looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Talon Dalton and Brock Bumgardner did most of the damage at the plate: Dalton scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Bumgardner' went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Bumgardner' has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Adams, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Cherryville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Highland Tech was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Kings Mountain by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since April 4, 2024.
Highland Tech saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coleman Schafer, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Cherryville pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Highland Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
