Volleyball Preview: Lightridge Bolts vs. Independence

Lightridge has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will head out to take on Independence at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lightridge, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Lightridge was able to grind out a solid win over Stone Bridge, taking the game 3-1.

Lightridge had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-9.

Natalie Yee was the offensive standout of the match as she had 12 digs.

Lightridge was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Independence entered their matchup against Loudoun County on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Independence fell just short of Loudoun County by a score of 3-2. Independence hasn't had much luck with Loudoun County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Independence actually scored more points across those five sets (96-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 12-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-12.

Lightridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5-1 record this season. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
