Basketball Recap: Hibriten Piles Up the Points Against Asheville Christian Academy

It was a proper cat-fight when Hibriten duked it out withAsheville Christian Academy on Thursday. The Hibriten Panthers took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-28 win over the Asheville Christian Academy Lions. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

Hibriten found their leader in sophomore Aamori Patterson, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Connor, who had seven points.

Hibriten was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asheville Christian Academy only racked up five assists.

Ansley Fuchs and Sara Larios certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Fuchs put up ten points along with seven boards and three steals, while Larios posted 13 points and four steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Hibriten and bumps their season record up to 8-3. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Hibriten and Asheville Christian Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Hibriten (ranked 106th) will meet North Wilkes (ranked 12th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Asheville Christian Academy (ranked 261st) will meet Greensboro Day School (ranked 34th) on January 3, 2025.
