Volleyball Recap: Sun Valley Comes Up Short

Sun Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Downingtown East Cougars. If the Vanguards were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sun Valley was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-12, 25-10.

Leading Downingtown East to victory were Ashley Januszko and Paige Vanemon. Januszko had 12 digs and seven aces, while Vanemon had five aces and three digs. That's the most aces Januszko has posted over her last eight matches.

Sun Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Downingtown East, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Sun Valley will take on rival Unionville at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Downingtown East is set to square off against their familiar foe Bishop Shanahan at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
